"But You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." 1 Peter 2:9
Hey Guys. This last Thursday was epic. We gathered around the table again had some pizza, caught up and shared about life these days. Soon Coffee was a-brew and before we knew it we were running over the story of the Israelites Exodus out of Egypt. God here in Exodus, is calling the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt to be his people. A nation that will show the world who He is. As we went through the story we were asking ourselves and one another: "What does it mean to be the people of God?"
Now God had heard the cry of his people in Egypt and rescued them from slavery in ways that were amazing. He had already said that through Abraham's line "all nations of earth would be blessed". And he would soon show them his law and what it meant to walk with him. A common phrase you will find written throughout the law after God gives instructions on how we are to live is: "so that I (God) may dwell amongst them".
How would we have to live as a people so that God could dwell amongst us?
What does it mean to be God's people today in this city?
Any thoughts?
Janelle also made an amazing Cheesecake!
This Thursday we will be eating out to raise money for Aids and HIV. That being said, I'm sorry that there won't be any home cooked goodness this week. But hey Thai food is amazing, and by simply eating it, we get to help do some much needed good. We will be meeting at 7:00 at Lemon Grass Thai.
Here is the Address
3632 Lancaster Ave, Philadelphia, PA US
Feel free to bring anyone along, but try and let us know so that we know how any seats to reserve. Hope to see you Thursday. Peace.
